The new Waldbad Warburg. Meeting place for everyone - inclusive, sustainable, family-friendly

Es ist ein Schwimmbad zu sehen.

With the laying of the foundation stone in May 2025, the town of Warburg has taken a big step towards the "New Forest Pool". From Whitsun 2027, citizens will be able to play sports, relax and unwind there all year round, regardless of the weather: in addition to the renovated outdoor pool on the hill overlooking the Diemel, a modern indoor pool is also being built. As the "largest investment project in the history of the Hanseatic city", as Mayor Tobias Scherf emphasized at the start of the construction work, the new Waldbad is part of the Laurentiushöhe inclusive urban development project.

Inclusive coexistence in the district

The urban development project aims to create new living space on a brownfield site and incorporate the adjacent curative education therapy and support center (HPZ). In the future inclusive Laurentiushöhe district, people with and without disabilities will be able to live well together. It is only logical that the new Waldbad will be barrier-free and inclusive, making it easier for people with physical or mental disabilities to go swimming and participate without having to overcome obstacles.

Sustainable and resilient: new construction and renovation are geared towards climate protection

In order to achieve the climate protection targets for renovation and new construction, the city is relying on several building blocks: with efficient heat and hot water generation using an air/heat pump, a solar absorber system for the outdoor pool, photovoltaics on all roofs and two combined heat and power plants, which are operated with biogas wherever possible, the aim is to generate as much of the required energy as possible from renewable sources. Attention is also paid to the CO2 footprint of the building materials. For example, stainless steel is used for the pool construction, which is somewhat more expensive than a tiled concrete pool, but can also be produced in a more environmentally friendly way. Native softwoods are used for the wall and ceiling cladding, while at the same time as many old trees as possible are to be preserved during the construction work thanks to compact designs.

A year-round offer for young and old

With the New Waldbad Warburg, a modern meeting place for everyone is being created through the collaboration of many stakeholders. Children's area, slide, diving facility and a teaching pool with lifting floor offer fun and a wide range of sports opportunities. A textile sauna and sunbathing lawn invite you to relax. The project is rounded off by a gastronomic offer that can be used in the foyer and in the outdoor area. The future of swimming in Warburg seems secure - sustainable, inclusive and family-friendly.
