PERSPEKTIVE Südwestfalen 2.0 - Skilled workers for the region

Ein junger Mann mit Schutzbrille arbeitet an einer Maschine.

The main objectives of the "PERSPEKTIVE Südwestfalen 2.0" project were to help secure skilled workers, prevent emigration and raise awareness of the region's economic strength and special features. During implementation, the initiators focused on various project modules, such as "South Westphalia goes to school". Here, extensive regional teaching material was developed for secondary levels I and II in order to systematically impart knowledge about the region. Teachers and interested parties can access and use the teaching material via an online platform.

"Meet 'n' Match"

The online format "Meet 'n' Match" was also implemented, with the aim of bringing students and job seekers together with companies. The company first presented itself in the form of a live tour. In the second part, interested parties were able to talk to company employees - without the management listening in. In the third, optional part, there were short introductory interviews for a job, an internship or a student traineeship - conveniently and digitally, even from the comfort of your sofa.

"Gap Year South Westphalia"

The project module "Gap Year South Westphalia", which is unique in its implementation throughout Germany, attracted particular attention. Many young people in the region are often unaware of the excellent career prospects offered by the internationally successful companies in South Westphalia. The "Gap Year South Westphalia" program was designed to pave the way into local companies: Within one year, participants were able to get to know three different South Westphalian companies from the inside for three months at a time, gain valuable experience and thus explore their own personal prospects in the region - all with just one application.

A total of 59 companies from the South Westphalia region took part in the "Gap Year" and offered school leavers paid internships in a wide range of professional fields. From industrial-technical professions to real estate agents and pharmaceutical-technical assistance, work in the hotel industry or the IT sector to employment services and careers in nursing or social services, everything was on offer. Applications were open to young people with a school-leaving certificate who had reached the age of 18 by the start of their first gap year internship. They had the choice between three different gap year options. In the Classic variant, they completed three paid internships of three months each within one year.

Sustainable effect for the region

The "PERSPEKTIVE Südwestfalen 2.0" project has now come to an end - but many ideas, formats and insights will remain in the region: The "Gap Year South Westphalia" program will continue to be offered and constantly developed. The same applies to the digital door-opener series "Meet & Match". Location marketing for the region will benefit in the long term from the advertising campaigns and offers developed in the project, which will continue to be used.
