Kneipp Adventure Park Olsberg - Stay by the water
Olsberg is a health resort with a long tradition, in a particularly suitable scenic and climatic location and with a wide range of Kneipp facilities and infrastructure. The town began working intensively on a green and open space concept at an early stage and developed specific proposals as part of the regional project "New profile for health resorts". However, implementation was initially not realistic due to the associated costs. The turning point came with the state-wide competition "Erlebnis.NRW - Tourismus stärken" in the 2014 - 2020 funding period of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), in which the Olsberg concept was selected for funding.
A barrier-free and experience-oriented green axis
A modern Kneipp adventure park has been created in the inner-city green spaces. "Experience Kneipp with all your senses" is the overarching motto - at the same time, the park is a building block for an attractive and sustainable town of Olsberg. Central points of the barrier-free and experience-oriented green axis in the town center are more places and quality of stay by the water, a "Kneipp experience place" in the spa park as well as a redesign of the square at the Haus des Gastes and an opening towards the water. A bridge with a nature observation platform has also been built on the Ruhraue in Bigge. The top of the landscape at the confluence of the Gierskoppbach stream was made tangible and a "jump over the water" was added.
Places for movement and balance
The first station of the new park was the Generation Park, which opened in 2015. It represents the theme of "movement" in the Kneipp philosophy and is aimed at visitors of all generations. There are also play and leisure activities for people with disabilities in the Generation Park. Another station is the "Life Garden" at the Josefsheim. It is designed as a place of remembrance, commemoration and encounter and thus reflects the theme of "balance", which is also an integral part of Kneipp's teachings.
The Kneipp Adventure Park Olsberg offers a variety of activities that focus on the five Kneipp elements of balance, water, exercise, medicinal herbs and nutrition. The observation station on the Ruhraue enables a barrier-free approach to the water via a bridge with an observation platform and invites you to discover the topics from Sebastian Kneipp's world of thought.
