Green infrastructure
Strengthening ecologically valuable areas in residential areas for the benefit of biodiversity, health and well-being - that is the aim of the "Green Infrastructure" funding measure.
Open spaces, woodland structures, bodies of water, floodplains and wetlands protect sensitive ecosystems and strengthen biodiversity. With the "Green Infrastructure" funding program, North Rhine-Westphalia and the EU are providing around 50 million euros in funding to specifically support and develop these valuable areas. One focus of the measure is nature-oriented projects in urban areas and their surrounding areas as well as the networking of ecologically valuable areas in urban areas with areas in rural areas.
Integration of leisure and educational activities
Investment projects that are close to nature and nature-based can offer leisure and recreational opportunities, contribute to climate adaptation and have a health-promoting effect. Information and educational offers can also be integrated.
