Investments for the implementation of vocational education for sustainable development

Rheinisches Revier
Research and educational institutions
Municipal companies and facilities

The state of NRW and the EU support educational institutions in further developing and expanding their educational offers in terms of sustainability-oriented vocational training.

Vocational education for sustainable development (VETSD) is a skills-oriented concept that promotes the integrated development of knowledge, skills and abilities among trainees or participants in further training. It enables them to make environmentally friendly, socially responsible and economically viable decisions in terms of sustainable development in their professional lives.

The funding measure "Investments for the implementation of vocational education for sustainable development" makes it possible to create the spatial and technical conditions for this. The aim is to provide sustainability-relevant impetus in the educational activities of the funding recipients in order to strengthen transformative and social change skills. Funding from the Just Transition Fund (JTF) and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia is available for this purpose.

Sustainability-oriented vocational training

Funding is provided for needs-based investments, primarily by inter-company training centers, which enable the further development and expansion of their educational offers in terms of sustainability-oriented vocational training:

  • New, supplementary and/or modernization equipment for existing buildings as well as material and/or digital teaching/learning spaces (such as classrooms, group, specialist or social rooms, workshops, IT software, learning management systems, blended learning platforms)

Expenditure is eligible for funding, insofar as they are incurred with the aim of implementing sustainability-oriented vocational training in accordance with the state strategy "Education for Sustainable Development" and the binding standard vocational training position "Environmental Protection and Sustainability" in vocational training in accordance with the BBiG/HwO.
